/ALI members only event
Speakers:
Alexandra Whittaker, Chief Counsel, House Ways and Means Committee, Subcommittee on Trade
Evan Giesemann, Staff Director, Senate Finance Committee Subcommittee on Trade
ALI hosted key congressional trade staff to discuss Congress’ international economic agenda for the Fall. The discussion covered the IPEF negotiations, following up on Trade Adjustment Assistance, the Generalized System of Preferences, and the Miscellaneous Tariff Bills that were left out of the CHIPS legislation, as well as the implementation of the recently passed ban on forced labor in supply chains. The speakers discussed their strong interest in U.S. trade negotiations with Taiwan, as well as with the U.K. and Kenya, and expressed the view that the China 301 tariffs are unlikely to be lifted in the near future.
