Next Steps in Trade and Industrial Policy with Senior Commerce Department Officials

ALI hosted a robust discussion with several key officials from the International Trade Administration at the Department of Commerce to discuss their initiatives designed to enhance America’s bilateral and multilateral trade goals.

Marti Flaks updated ALI members regarding the initiatives on supply chain resilience being undertaken by the new Supply Chain Center. The center is implementing best-in-class tools to analyze constantly changing supply chain challenges, whether domestic. The center is using this data to assist companies in managing and diversifying their supply chains.   

Sharon Yuan updated ALI on the progress of multiple workstreams that ITA is engaged in with its IPEF partner countries to complete and expand upon Pillars 2, 3, and 4 of the IPEF framework.

Keigan Mull outlined Secretary Raimondo’s high-level efforts to engage China in productive bilateral talks on cross-cutting issues like data flows, overcapacity and travel and tourism initiatives. U.S. export controls, sanctions and forced labor policies continue to be irritants in the bilateral relationship.
